Not every Nepal trip needs two weeks. Some of the most memorable Nepal experiences are achievable in 3 to 6 days – enough time to feel genuinely transported and return with something real, not just a transit stamp. Nepal also works particularly well as a stopover on longer Asia journeys: Kathmandu connects directly with major Indian cities, Colombo, Bangkok, Singapore and the Gulf hubs, making a 4–5 day Nepal short break a natural addition to any Asia itinerary.
Kathmandu Valley Heritage – 4 to 5 Days: Our most popular short break. Two days covering all seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites with a private guide, one night at Nagarkot for Himalayan sunrise, one full day in Bhaktapur and the medieval city experience, anchored at Dwarika's Hotel Kathmandu. This is Nepal's cultural highlight reel, properly executed, with time to actually absorb what you're seeing.
Pokhara Escape – 4 to 5 Days: Fly Kathmandu to Pokhara (25 minutes), spend 4 days at Tiger Mountain Lodge or The Pavilions Himalayas with morning paragliding, Phewa Lake boat trips, Sarangkot sunrise, spa and mountain views. One of the finest 4-day relaxation breaks available anywhere in South Asia.
Chitwan Wildlife Break – 4 to 5 Days: Fly Kathmandu to Bharatpur (25 minutes), 3 nights at Taj Meghauli Serai or Kasara Resort for full wildlife immersion – jeep safari, jungle walk, canoe trip and Tharu cultural evening. A compact but genuinely satisfying wildlife experience.
Hills and Heritage – 6 Days: A slightly longer circuit combining Kathmandu UNESCO sightseeing, Dhulikhel mountain retreat (1 night at Dwarika's Resort), Bhaktapur and Nagarkot sunrise. Six days done well beats two weeks done badly.
The single biggest mistake on a short Nepal break is trying to cover too many destinations. A 5-day trip attempting Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan produces a sequence of transfers with insufficient time at each stop. A 5-day trip focused on Kathmandu and Nagarkot only, or Pokhara only, produces a genuine experience of a place. We are direct about this when planning and we recommend depth over breadth every time.
Domestic flights between Kathmandu, Pokhara and Bharatpur (Chitwan) take 25–30 minutes and depart multiple times daily. Private vehicles make road journeys practical as alternatives. All our short break programmes are tailor-made: the destinations, hotels and activities all reflect your specific preferences and available dates.
