Nepal Luxury Family Tour – 14 Days

A 14-day Nepal journey designed specifically for families – covering the five destinations that together give the most complete and memorable Nepal experience across all age groups. Kathmandu for cultural heritage, Bandipur for a car-free medieval hill town, Pokhara for lake and mountain activities, Lumbini for the birthplace of the Buddha, and Chitwan for wildlife encounters. Every activity is chosen to work for families: engaging for children, interesting for adults, manageable for grandparents, and flexible enough to adjust when the energy of a family group requires it.

We have been organising Nepal family holidays long enough to know what genuinely works across age groups – and what sounds good in a brochure but exhausts younger children or bores teenagers. The pace of this itinerary is deliberate: midday rest time is built in on active days, long road transfers are minimised by using domestic flights, and each destination includes both family-focused activities and time for children to simply run around in a beautiful place. The hotels are selected for genuine family-friendliness: pools, connected room options, good children's menus and staff who actually like having children around.

Kathmandu – History Brought to Life

Two days with a guide who knows how to tell the stories behind the temples to children of different ages. Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple) is an immediate hit. The Patan Durbar Square bronze workshops. A cooking class in a local Kathmandu kitchen. Evening walk through Thamel's market streets.

Bandipur – The Magical Hill Town

One night in Nepal's most beautifully preserved car-free hill town. The Siddha Cave – Nepal's largest, with extraordinary stalactites and bats – is a highlight that children consistently mention as a trip favourite. Mountain views from the Tundikhel plateau at dusk.

Pokhara – Lakes and Adventure

Three nights with a combination of lake activities (boat trip to the island temple, kayaking, fishing), mountain viewpoints (Sarangkot sunrise), cultural visits (International Mountain Museum – excellent for children) and spa or relaxation time for adults. Paragliding available for older children and teenagers with parental consent.

Lumbini – The Birthplace of the Buddha

One full day visiting the Sacred Garden, Ashokan Pillar and international monastery zone. A guide who explains the story of the Buddha in terms children can engage with makes this one of the most meaningful days of the itinerary for families with children of any age.

Chitwan – Wildlife for All Ages

Three nights at Kasara Resort or Barahi Jungle Lodge. Jeep safari with a naturalist guide – rhino encounters at close range are almost guaranteed and produce the kind of excitement that children talk about for years. Canoe trip on the Rapti River, Tharu cultural evening with traditional dance and elephant centre visit.
